Every sports enthusiast dreams of being a part of a major tournament. When it comes to the possibility of happening, few people miss out on the chance to take advantage of it. And that’s partly why sports betting has never stopped being hot over the years, and boxing is booming more than ever in the sports betting scene. Boxing betting can be a money-making opportunity that you can master. This guide from JL7 will show you how to bet on a boxing match and explain in detail all the options available for each match.

Introduction to Boxing

Introduction to Boxing

On the eve of major boxing tournaments such as the Olympic Games or the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), millions of fans turn their attention to fighters from all over the world. However, boxing is a martial art that has been around for thousands of years, dating back to the 16th century, making it the oldest sport in history.

When you check a betting site, there are always sporting events to bet on, so you might ask why the box is selected and why it is so popular. A boxing match takes place between two fighters in a square ring surrounded by ropes ranging from 4.9m to 7.3m in length. A boxing match will consist of rounds lasting 3 minutes, up to 9 to 12 rounds in a match to find the champion. The fighters are equipped with leather gloves to start attacking their opponents with their fists and score points to win.

If any fighter is knocked down in the ring and cannot stand up to continue fighting after the referee counts to 8 or 10, the fighter who strikes again will be counted as the winner with a “knock-out” (KO). In other cases, if a fighter is injured and stands up after a punch but is declared by the referee or doctor to be unable to continue fighting, the referee will declare the remaining fighter the winner, and the winning round is counted as TKO (Technical knock-out). The fighter with the highest score or who knocks out the opponent at the end of the match will win.

Boxing Betting Options

Being a two-man sport, the world of boxing betting offers players some specific but quality bets.

Boxing Betting Options

The Money Line Bet

With this bet, players have 3 options to predict the outcome if fighter A or B wins or the fight ends in a draw. This bet is the most popular and is always repeated in every boxing match. You will decide to bet on one outcome in the match

Outright Bet

Outright bets work when you believe that a certain professional fighter has a high probability of becoming the winner not only in one fight but in the entire tournament. Players who choose this type of bet are usually professional bettors; they need to carefully calculate the probabilities of each match for the entire season based on the information of the over/under team or other factors, such as the fighting style. To win these not-so-low odds, the effort spent on learning and researching is completely worth it. For example, you can bet on a player in the season to be the champion of UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas.

Winning Method Bet

Boxing Betting

You bet on which specific fighter will win and how they will win. This is a more exciting bet and has better odds than the usual Moneyline bet. The outcome can be one of the following:

Knock-out (KO) – Fighter A or B wins when his opponent is knocked down and does not fight again after the referee has finished counting to 10.

Technical Knock-Out (TKO) – Fighter A or B is knocked down on the mat and can get up, but the doctor or referee decides that the injury is too severe and he cannot continue.

Retired (RTD) – Fighter A or B does not continue to fight to the end of the match, resulting in the other opponent winning. This result usually occurs due to injuries sustained during the match. Unanimous Decision (UD) – All three judges declare the winner with the higher score at the end of the match.

Split Decision (SD) – One of the three judges disagrees with the score at the end of the match, resulting in two judges declaring fighter B the winner and the remaining judge declaring fighter A the winner.

Majority Decision (MD) – Two judges declare fighter A or B the winner, and the remaining judge declares the two fighters a draw at the end of the match.

Disqualified (DQ) – One of the two fighters repeatedly commits fouls during the match. If both fighters commit fouls, the match is canceled.

Winning group of rounds

You bet on fighter A or B to win within 3 specific rounds. Many bettors choose this type of bet to win at higher odds.

Round betting

This is probably the most bet for players, because it is not easy to choose an exact winning result for a specific player in exactly one round.
